Awkwafina

Awkwafina is an American actor and musician who made her name with witty rappers, which explored issues of race and sexual identity with the most comical of perspectives. She then expanded her reach to Hollywood. Her name is Nora Lum to Chinese and Korean parents who immigrated to Forest Hills Queens her first experience with music came through the trumpet. Also, she received the classical and jazz education later becoming a hip-hop teenager. At college, she was studying writing and women's studies. Then, she even had a short time studying Mandarin while in Beijing. After graduation, she began to focus on music. The track she released in 2012 My Vag a response to Mickey Avalon's My Dick found viral success through the Internet which led to her debut LP Yellow Ranger in 2014. It also included other sensational hits such as body-positive Queef as well as the wink-inducing hometown tour NYC Bitche$1. The latter track connected directly to another project, Awkwafina's NYC A travel guide that was released in the year 2015. The singer decided to pursue acting career following her completion of two initiatives, as a writer and musician. Her film credits include films like Neighbors 2 Storks, and Bad Rap. In 2018 she landed breakthrough roles in a handful of notable films, including Dude Ocean's 8 as well as Crazy Rich Asians. Her EP came out, In Fina We Trust in June of the same year.
